High-speed digital datafeed of real-time quotes is launched

NEW -- Standard & Poor's ComStock has launched Xpressfeed, a high-speed digital datafeed of real-time quotes and financial information. With the additional capacity for data, Xpressfeed has added a new group of news and analytical services, such as NASDAQ Level II Market Maker, MMS International, AFX European News and international exchange data.

The Xpressfeed bandwidth is 56 kilobytes for optimum real-time data transfer. Xpressfeed uses data compression technology and advanced error correction techniques to help ensure accuracy of the data. S&P ComStock's data coverage includes equities, options, futures, commodities, foreign exchanges, analysis and news. S&P ComStock is a unit of Standard & Poor's, which is a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies.

International data delivered over the Internet

NEW -- Data Broadcasting Corporation (DBC) has entered into an alliance with Telesphere to deliver worldwide security data over the Internet. Telesphere's Global Ticker datafeed is being made available to all DBC customers on a delayed basis. Eventually, real-time international data will be available through its subscription-based MarketWatch service.

Global Ticker is a consolidated digital real-time feed of market data and complementary information delivered over a single 128K circuit.

In other news, DBC has also entered into an alliance with Charles Schwab & Co. to provide continuously updated market information and other data to a pilot program for Schwab's StreetSmart Pro software, a new online PC-based investment trading system.

Through StreetSmart Pro, DBC's Signal for Windows application will be offered at a discount to Schwab customers enrolled in the Schwab 500 Brokerage and Schwab Select Service.

DBC offers real-time information through Signal, QuoTrek, BMI and sports services.

Add-in tool helps users test and implement trading systems

Free demo of artificial intelligence&shyp;based stock analysis program available over Internet

NEW -- AIQ Systems, a division of Track Data Corp., offers a free trial version of its MarketExpert for Windows software over the Internet. TECHNICAL ANALYSIS SEMINAR
The Technical Securities Analysis Association's (TSAA-SF) annual seminar will be held on Saturday, October 19 in San Francisco. Speakers will include Ralph Acampora, director of technical analysis for Prudential Securities; Marc Chaikin, senior vice president for Instinet Research; David Brown, chairman and CEO of Telescan; Alex Jacobson, vice president for the Chicago Options Institute; and Adrienne Toghraie, consultant on trading psychology. Attendance fees range from $150 to $195. Registration deadline is October 1.

The TSAA is devoted to the study and development of technical analysis of stocks and commodities. Membership in the TSAA is open to all who are interested in technical analysis and includes invitations to meetings and gatherings, discounts on seminars and a quarterly newsletter.

MANAGED FUTURES CONFERENCE IN PARIS
The International Conference for Managed Futures and Derivatives sponsored by the Managed Futures Association (MFA) will be held October 7-9 in Paris. Topics discussed will include increasing institutional demand for managed futures, using niche strategies, the European single currency, risk measurement and opportunities for the 21st century.

CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION ON FUTURES
The Chicago Board of Trade's October courses will be on financial basics and spread strategies. The three-day minicourse on financial basics will develop and apply the fundamental concepts of interest rate futures, options and technical analysis, taught by financial industry authorities and Cbot members.

The basics class will be held October 9-11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and costs $550 per person.

The course on spread strategies will review the basics of futures spreads, including intercommodity, intermarket, interdelivery and processing spreads. Case studies and spread watches are used to provide hands-on experience for students.

The spread class will be held October 28 to November 20 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and costs $115 per person.

FINANCIAL DATA ON WEB SITE
Prophet Information Services has introduced a suite of Web-based products for futures traders and financial technical analysts. The Web site offers futures data and updates that are compatible with popular PC charting programs. Subscribers receive six months of free historical data and daily updates.
