New version of technical analysis and charting program is released for Win95

UPGRADE -- Equis International has released MetaStock 6.0 for the Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 operating environments. MetaStock 6.0 technical analysis and charting program is a native 32-bit application designed for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 and allows multithreading, long file names, Click & Pick, Drag & Drop, and other Windows features. MetaStock is Microsoft Office 97&shyp;compatible.

MetaStock 6.0 provides free security quotes over the Internet as well as Equis's online resources and other online financial information. Charts produced from MetaStock can be faxed or sent via E-mail in bitmap format and can be saved as HTML files for publication on the Internet.

Other interface enhancements include drop-down calendars, integer spin controls, "apply" buttons in properties dialogs and floating/docking Data Window and toolbars. The Find feature scans the entire hard disk to find a security. Many improvements to existing features have been made as well.

The new Expert Advisor posts trading advice from market experts with alerts, signals and commentary. Users can also import new expert advisories created by other traders or even create experts with their own conditions and criteria.

New version of prediction modeling program includes advanced data processing

NEW -- AbTech Corporation, a developer of statistical network modeling products, has introduced ModelQuest Expert, which combines neural network and regression techniques for statistical modeling in diagnostics, pattern recognition and classification. It integrates expert technology and the neural network technologies developed for the previous version of ModelQuest to create estimation and prediction models. ModelQuest Expert automatically generates statistical models in the form of networks of equations.

New features include advanced pre- and post-processing capabilities, additional extraction routines, a batch capability and use of the tab key to perform all modeling tasks from one window. ModelQuest Expert explains its results by indicating the relative importance of each variable for a given estimate. It also provides an overall assessment of relative variable importance for a model.

Database of business documents assists in research

NEW -- Telescan has released Telescan Assistant, a database of business information. The database contains copies of documents on a variety of topics to assist businesses with researching and compiling SEC filings, annual reports, press releases and other reports.

Free catalog details computer and hardware products

FREE -- Network Technologies offers a new catalog detailing computer and hardware products compatible with PS/2 and PC clones, Sun SPARCstation, Silicon Graphics and Macintosh computers. New venture allows broadcast fax marketing without satellite

FYI -- International Satellite Communications (INTERSAT) has announced an agreement with AT&T for voice and data communications services intended to enhance INTERSAT's broadcast fax offerings. The agreement provides users with desktop-computer control of broadcast fax offerings.

The long-distance service provided by AT&T's Worldwide Intelligent Network will combine with INTERSAT's customer desktop features to enable users to assemble their own custom broadcast fax groups and send information to them simultaneously with a few keystrokes.

INTERSAT delivers real-time voice and data information via satellite from financial exchanges, commodity and options firms, clearing houses and trading partners. The new agreement with AT&T allows customers to utilize INTERSAT desktop broadcast fax technology without necessitating the use of satellite transmission.

Artificial intelligence-based stock analysis program available free over the Internet

FREE -- AIQ Systems' MarketExpert for Windows program can be downloaded free from Aiq's Web site. The artificial intelligence-based stock analysis program provides facilities to chart and analyze an unlimited number of stocks, indices and mutual funds. It includes 45 technical indicators.

Dun & Bradstreet Information Services (D&B) has begun providing customers with online access to information on more than 40 million businesses around the world.

D&B provides access to its business database through its Windows-based DunsLink 3.0 software. The new service allows users to retrieve the company's standard business reports on US companies. NEURAL NETWORK PRODUCT
NeuroDimension has released version 3.0 of its neural network simulation environment, NeuroSolutions for Windows. Version 3.0 adds improved usability and software extensibility.

Version 3.0 also provides add-in modules for Microsoft Excel to simplify construction, training and analyzing the results of a neural network. The user highlights in Excel the segments of data he or she wants to use for training, cross-validation and testing. Then the user steps through configuration panels to prepare the neural network for training.

The training module offers several methods for training the network, each producing a graphical report summarizing the training results. Finally, the testing module allows the user to run a test data set through the trained network to determine how well the network learned the process being modeled.

Version 3.0 is compliant with the OLE server, and NeuroSolutions 3.0 can be integrated with Excel and all other OLE server applications, giving users the ability to write their own scripts. Prices range from $195 to $1,995.

NEW VERSION OF STATISTICAL SOFTWARE
Minitab is a statistical and mathematical modeling software package for Windows. Enhancements for the latest release, Release 11, include advanced statistics operations, more effective data handling, a design-of-experiments interface, quality-control additions and greater ease of use.

Added statistical features include logistic regression, correspondence analysis, polynomial regression and survival analysis. Logistic regression enables users to analyze binary, ordinal or nominal variables and automatically generate diagnostic graphs. Correspondence analysis allows users to explore relationships in a contingency table. Polynomial regression models curvature between response and predictor variables. Survival analysis assesses data such as how long products last before breaking, foods' shelf-life or patients' survival rates after medical treatment.

Release 11 also improves the data manipulation capabilities to provide a more spreadsheet-like worksheet. Minitab now works with date and time data and offers easier data importation. New user-friendly features include toolbar enhancements and longer column names, right-click shortcut menus and text output that retains its formatting.

SPREADSHEET ADD-IN FOR OPTIONS
