New Web site offers options analysis tools
FYI -- OptionsAnalysis.com is a new Web site by Global Investment Management Corp. that offers applications to analyze futures, options and combination trades.
The Web site began as a series of applications used by professional traders to analyze options volatility to determine which options were overpriced and which were selling at discount. Proprietary applications on the site include the Flytrap, the Combo Analyzer, Implied Volatility rankings and Bollinger band breakouts. In addition, the site offers futures and options pricing and graphical analysis. A database of historical prices and volatility allows traders to test the effectiveness of various trading strategies using real data.
A subscription fee is charged for access to the proprietary applications, but the site also offers two and a half years of free pricing information and implied volatility data for US commodities. In addition to the Web site, Global has also packaged the volatility rankings as part of its TradeFinder fax service.

Book demonstrates short-term trading strategies
FYI -- M. Gordon Publishing Group is offering the fifth printing of Jeff Cooper's Hit and Run Trading, originally published in September 1996. The book teaches short-term, low-risk setup patterns for trading equities. It presents a methodology that seeks to beat buy and hold, and uses both short and long trades. Because it incorporates short selling, the methodology is designed to work in bear markets as well as bull.
The first three chapters discuss trading terms, rules and criteria. Then, a series of 11 strategies are explained in detail, each illustrated with trades that the author actually executed, supported by references to charts reprinted in the book.
