Upgrades to DBC Signal data software add customization
UPDATE -- DBC has released version 4.1 of Signal, Signal Online, StockEdge, and StockEdge Online software, which includes enhancements to features and functionality such as vertical scrolling tickers, sorting, easy-to-use right-click menus, and customizable comment fields. The 4.1 software is available for download over Dbc's Web site.
For Internet users, Signal Online 4.1 and StockEdge Online 4.1 include additional enhancements, such as Nasdaq bulletin board stocks and the ability to add a customizable ticker in your Nasdaq Level II window.

Collection of mechanical trading systems gives broker instructions
FYI-- The Collective from International Trading Systems is a collection of mechanical trading systems for stocks and futures. The Collective software generates a document containing broker instructions for each security in your portfolio. You then fax those instructions to your broker.
The package includes 1,500 years of historical data, which can be used to backtest each system and check system performance, even in demonstration mode.
The Collective contains several separate trading systems, simply named system 1, system 2, system 3, and so on. Each system is priced individually according to its performance goals, and the user can choose which systems to purchase or can purchase the entire collection. The software is fully automated and the systems are proprietary.

New version of MetaStock Pro now works with real-time Reuters data
UPDATE -- MetaStock Professional now works with real-time data from the Reuters Terminal using the Reuters Dde Server (IDNDDE). MetaStock Professional for Reuters previously worked with the Reuters Terminal only on an end-of-day basis with the Reuters Time Series (TS1) database.
MetaStock Professional for Reuters gives Reuters Terminal customers advanced analytics such as system testing with optimization and comparison functions, custom formula building, screening, ranking, and alerts.
The DownLoader for Reuters Terminal data downloading software also comes with this version. In addition to its nine charting styles and more than 120 indicators and line studies, MetaStock Professional for Reuters also offers the same functions as those found in the Signal/BMIversions of MetaStock Professional.

New version of options analysis software offers Internet features
UPDATE -- OptionVue Systems International has released version 1.2 of its options analysis program, OptionVue 5. OptionVue 5 features NetVue, OptionVue's new Internet data access capability.
OptionVue 5 incorporates new conveniences, especially those offered by Internet-delivered data capabilities. Users can receive current market quotes, database updates, and the OpScan trade-seeking service over the Internet instead of via direct dial-up connection, which can help eliminate long-distance charges that many users incur when dialing up for data.
Version 1.2 has new features such as automatic rollover for expiring futures contract symbols, background database enhancements, new alerts, and formatting flexibility.

Daily stock market data service come with free software
FYI -- Stock Data provides daily stock market data over the Internet and by direct modem connection to its bulletin board computers. A weekly diskette service is also offered.
Data is provided for more than 10,000 equities that trade on the New York, American and Nasdaq exchanges and includes more than 300 market indices. Daily data for Canadian stocks and mutual funds is also available. Historical data for major markets is available as far back as September 1987, and for Canadian stocks and mutual funds back to 1992.

New version of options analysis software has new trading strategies
UPDATE -- Essex Trading Company has released Option Pro On-Line version 3.0. Option Pro software was co-developed by David Wesolowicz, president of Essex Trading and a floor trader at the Chicago Board Options Exchange for nine years, and Jay Kaeppel, author of The PRO-VEST Option Trading Method and The Four Biggest Mistakes In Option Trading.
Features of the new 3.0 version include new trading strategies, such as calendar and vertical spread strategies, a hedge strategy, and skew filters. Database management platform downloads and distributes market data to customer files
UPDATE -- CSI's Unfair Advantage database management platform downloads and distributes market data to customer files. In the latest enhancement, daily data can now be appended to customer files with little or no noticeable delay. This speed improvement was the most requested improvement.
Data formats supported include CSI (which is now Y2K-compatible), MetaStock, and Ascii. Unfair Advantage will now remotely accept contract specification changes for European commodities affected by the forthcoming European Monetary Union (EMU).
Stock market and mutual fund coverage is now being offered to users of Unfair Advantage as a beta version.

Stock screening program includes stock database
NEW -- Q-Analytics has released Q-Investor, a stock screening and fundamental backtesting application for Windows 95 & 98. It includes a 14-year historical database of 11,000 stocks and more than 250 fundamental parameters. Q-Investor allows development of fundamental stock screens using an array of techniques, including flexible screens with current data; reports about each company; automatic backtesting and exploration using the historical database; optimization of screens using genetic algorithms; graphical trend analysis; and peer group analysis.
