Real-time trading now available through DTN.IQ

FYI -- Trading stocks using high-speed and direct-access technology has been integrated into DTN's real-time Internet service, DTN.IQ (www.DTNIQ.com). Data Transmission Network (DTN) has formed alliances with Preferred Capital Market's Preferred Trade and CyBerCorp's CyBerX to provide DTN.IQ subscribers a choice of real-time trading platforms integrated with streaming quote data. The full integration allows traders to watch streaming quotes, trade, and receive confirmation in seconds. Active traders owe it to themselves to have the same, fast trade execution institutions and other high volume traders enjoy.

The advantage from full integration of trading platforms and streaming quotes is that orders can be quickly placed from any quote screen within DTN.IQ by simply double-clicking on a bid or asked price. There is no need to launch a Web browser or hit refresh to receive order confirmations. If you use DTN.IQ's Nasdaq Level II quotes, you can even direct orders to your choice of market maker or ECN through the integrated online broker.

Both Preferred Trade and CyBerCorp give you direct access to each exchange, market maker, or ECN for the best fill and liquidity.

Traders using Preferred Trade or CyBerCorp will receive a discount on their monthly basic DTN.IQ subscription to $79 per month (or $59 a month with annual prepay). Check with Preferred Trade or CyBerCorp as to whether they have any special offers for DTN.IQ customers.

New Website focuses on candlestick charting

NEW -- Brad Matheny of Matheny Enterprises has launched a new Website at www.TheRicePaper.com, dedicated to the topic of candlestick charting. The Website, which is free to visitors, will focus on teaching investors to use candlesticks and Western technical analysis with monthly articles from a variety of industry professionals.

An interactive forum at the site allows investors to share ideas and thoughts. The Website will also build on its content to provide educational resources for every level of investor. Candlestick charting has been known in Japan for hundreds of years, but the technique and its benefits weren't known in the West until Steve Nison introduced it to the US in 1991.

Other features of the site will include:

  • Editor's Desk with writings by Matheny
  • Market commentary
  • Message boards
  • TheRicePaper.com hypothetical portfolio using candlestick techniques
  • A custom-computer store for investors
  • An online bookstore
  • Articles contributed by various authors, who will include Matheny; broker Harian Perry; tax planner William Knoke; EasyLanguage programmer Sam Tennis; and currency specialist Scott Slutsky.
Matheny Enterprises is a software development company specializing in the development of investment-related products. Brad Matheny is co-developer of International Pacific Trading Company's software, The Candlestick Forecaster.

Easy options program provides analysis and recommendations

NEW -- The Institute for Options Research (IOR) has introduced an option program called The Push-Button Option Trader. The Push-Button Option Trader provides instant options analysis and recommendations plus a detailed game plan at the push of a button. The program tells you the best option to buy, when to take profits, when to cut losses, and when to exit your position. The user doesn't need to subscribe to a data service nor understand options analysis.

The program employs artificial intelligence to detail a game plan and rate option plays. It creates Option Profit Boxes, a unique option game plan and the centerpiece of The Put & Call Tactician advisory newsletter. The Push-Button Option Trader allows you to create your own Option Profit Boxes, which rate your potential option purchase and tell you your probability of hitting your profit goal and stop-loss point as set by the program.

Another feature of the program is The Bargain Hunter, which tells you if an option is under- or overpriced. Whenever you generate an Option Profit Box, the program stores the implied volatility of the underlying stock or futures. The history of this implied volatility tells the computer if the option is over- or underpriced.

The price is $195 plus $8 s/h.
