OPTIONS TRADING FORUM

Traders' Library will host an options trading forum October 9-10 in Chicago. The forum will offer attendees access to experts in option trading during two days of workshops. The event will also host an awards banquet where veteran trader Larry McMillan will receive an award for his contributions to the field of options.

Other options experts on hand will include James Bittman of the CBOE, Jon Najarian, George Fontanills, Max Ansbacher, and Price Headley. Topics covered will include options strategies and the psychological aspects of trading. Workshops will include "Using Options For Market Timing," "Leaps," and "High-Profit, Nondirectional Option Trades."

Geared toward traders of all levels, the forum will also host exhibits with product demos, discounts on trading tools, and educational materials.

Visual Numerics offers version 5.0 of its IMSL C Numeric Library. This version adds 77 new numerical analysis functions. CNL 5.0 supports several new 64-bit computing platforms. Datek Online Holdings Corp. has added data from The Brut ECN  to its Streamer ECN service. Streamer Ecn is a free, real-time, streaming stock price service incorporating data from Brut, The Island ECN, RediBook, and Archipelago. The Brut ECN represents approximately 7% of Nasdaq's daily trades on all ECNs.   Financial advisory website www.worldcupadvisor.com has been redesigned and relaunched with new features. At the top of the list, the Live Update program has been enhanced and expanded to include 10 futures accounts, and the display provides a complete look in real time at how successful traders trade their own money. e-NUMERATE COMPLETES PROTOTYPE TOOLS FOR XBRL


  Software builder e-Numerate Solutions has completed development of a prototype product for a new financial reporting platform known as eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). XBRL is a new electronic language for preparing, publishing, comparing, and exchanging financial statements, which will allow companies to realize the full benefits of Xbrl without having to abandon their own longstanding accounting practices. 

Using XBRL, companies can prepare financial information once and easily reuse it for multiple purposes, including regulatory filings, financial statements, and web postings. Xbrl also makes comparison of financial information from different companies easier by ensuring the financial terms used by each company in its reporting link to standard terms everyone can share. Xbrl's official glossary of financial terms - called a taxonomy - is based on US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). A taxonomy based on International Accounting Standards (IAS) is also forthcoming.

AMMAN STOCK EXCHANGE OPENS UP TO WESTERN INVESTORS


   Al-Bawaba’s Business Channel (www.albawaba.com/business) recently launched an English-language service that enables investors around the world to readily trade shares on the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE). Wolfram Research recently released Mathematica 4.1. New features include enhanced symbolic differential equation solvers; dramatic speed improvements in statistics functions; Java integration with J/Link 1.1; improved MathML integration, including copy and paste of formulas to web browsers; new support for LinuxPPC and AlphaLinux platforms; and new and faster import/export filters for Excel files, tabular data, compressed Bmp, Dxf, and other file formats.
