to build solid charting analysis from the ground up. This seminar, hosted
by Martin Pring, is designed to teach participants not only how
to use MetaStock but also how organize the various features in an efficient
and intelligent way. Knowing how to use the program, though, is only half

Beginning sessions will cover everything from MetaStock basics to how to use the DownLoader, printing charts, and other aspects of the program. The next day covers a wide range of technical analysis topics. Day 3 is designed to get the most out of MetaStock. Bring your laptop! Intimidating features will be explained. The last day covers power charting with MetaStock's charting features, its indicator language, and modules, as well as how to design, test, and apply mechanical trading systems. Early registration by June 3, all three days, $1,425. After June 3, all three days, $1,564. Other class packages also available. www.pring.com/seminar1.htm |

A
new plug-in for MetaStock, developed by candlestick expert Steve
Nison, generates specific buy/sell signals based on Steve Nison's personal
candlestick analysis. The plug-in, NCU, is the result of Nison's many years
of research into both Eastern and Western charting techniques. To further
improve trading accuracy, Nison's candlestick signals are gauged within
the context of trend, volatility, and reward/risk ratios. Release is expected
in May or June.

An
enhanced version of PortfolioStream from Rina Systems has been released.
The Sharpe ratio can now be determined using different methods of calculating
the percent return. This makes the determination of the Sharpe ratio more
relevant to both systems that compound trade size and those that generate
a fixed trade size throughout the history.
PortfolioStream also now contains a new type of graph, called Exposure Graphs. These display information relating to how much capital or margin a particular portfolio is using (open positions) over time. These graphs are designed to aid in assessing how much capital is required for a portfolio and also how much margin is utilized by the strategy. PortfolioStream users can convert any system results (performance report) into another currency denomination. This is relevant when securities are traded across borders. It also now supports the ability to run studies across time frames. Rina Systems has also released Selector Pro Toolbox for stocks, mutual funds, and futures. It combines ranking and backtesting with the system development capabilities of TradeStation. Selector software combines multimarket, automated backtesting in TradeStation with the use of cross-sectional ranking. Selector makes accessible to the serious system developer the ability to use security's ranking information, relative to other symbols in a user-defined group. A 30-day evaluation is available. www.rinasystems.com |
