 Market Simulation Engine Plots Strategies

Stock Thing announced that it has released the Stimulator. This software simulates stock market behavior based on historical data, allowing investors to plot strategies for NYSE, Nasdaq, and AMEX stocks. The Stimulator is structured for the average investor, displaying strategies and results in easy-to-understand terms. Stimulator has the ability to cycle through thousands of variations of core indicators (moving average, moving average convergence/divergence [MACD], average directional moving index [ADX], and so on), over lengthy or short periods, for numerous or individual symbols, allowing nonprofessionals to discover which indicators are significant during particular periods.

Simulation results are displayed in simple terms. Stimulator bases its simulations only on the amount of funds you can trade. Results are contingent on your starting investment, forcing you to "sell" positions in your hypothetical portfolio before entering new ones. The Stimulator presents a living reflection of market trends and helps the investor take advantage of mathematical and statistical similarities among stocks that have proven to be profitable.

The CBOE Futures Exchange said that it had begun trading futures contracts on the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX). The CBOE Futures Exchange offers an all-electronic, open-access market model, with traders providing liquidity and making markets. Variance futures are expected to launch in the second quarter of 2004. The contracts will be cash settled, for a value based on a standardized calculation of the realized variance of the S&P 500.
