Wolfram Updates Mathematica

Wolfram Research has reintroduced Mathematica, the company said. Mathematica 1.0 was originally launched in 1988, and today's Mathematica 6 is a completely new product, with hundreds of Wolfram technologies developed over the past 10 years. Mathematica 6 is applicable to a wider range of areas, and its new way of working improves innovation. Many examples of its interactive capabilities are posted to the Wolfram Demonstrations Project.

NinjaTrader Releases Newest Version, Offers Add-On Software

NinjaTrader said it had now released version 6. This newest version extends NinjaTrader's position in trade management for the discretionary trader and introduces new features including a solution for automated trading system developers. NinjaTrader 6 is free to use for advanced charting, market analytics, system development and trade simulation.

In other news, MTPredictor RT now offers an add-on for the NinjaTrader platform. MTPredictor intraday traders can now use any of the multiple datafeeds that power the charts in NinjaTrader. MTPredictor RT helps real-time traders determine which and what trades are worth the risk, how much to risk, and how to manage the selected trades.

Physically Backed Exchange Traded Commodities Listed On Deutsche Börse

ETF Securities said it had listed a range of physically backed precious metal exchange traded commodities (ETCs) on the Deutsche Börse. The four separate classes of metal securities listed were platinum, palladium, silver, and gold. A basket of metals was also listed consisting of platinum (20%), palladium (12%), silver (26%), and gold (42%). These securities will mark the first time precious metals are available to individual German investors.

NeuroShell Classifier Release Aids In Stock Buy Decision-Making

Ward Systems Group released a Windows Vista-compatible version of the NeuroShell Classifier software designed to analyze combinations of fundamental and/or technical analysis indicators to aid in stock purchase decision-making. The program works for longer-term investing because it can classify stocks as a buy or no-buy, and the results of the analysis display a probability for each stock, the company said.

@RISK Update Takes Advantage Of Excel 2007

Palisade Corp. announced the software update of @Risk. The update incorporates the increased capacity and capabilities of Microsoft's Excel 2007. @Risk 4.5.7 will now run analyses in the expanded worksheet of Excel 2007 and create larger models using larger datasets. @Risk 4.5.7 is free to customers with current maintenance plans, and for other customers it is $250 in the US, and £150 in the UK and Europe.

Global Forex Trading Develops DealBook For Traders On The Go

Global Forex Trading (GFT) has developed a streamlined, web-based trading application to complement DealBook 360, its desktop software, and its DealBook Mobile software for wireless devices, the company said. GFT will offer its 64-plus currencies through DealBook Web, real-time news from Dow Jones Newswires and Informa Global Markets as well as commentary from industry analysts. There is no software to download or install so traders can get the application anywhere they are connected to the Internet.

2007 Charles Dow Award Winner Is Announced

  Buff Pelz Dormeier's article on price and volume has received the Market Technicians Association's 2007 Charles H. Dow Award. Since 1994, the MTA has presented the Dow Award for excellence and creativity in technical analysis. For this year's competition, the standards for judging a paper required accepted models of testing and robust research, and for the first time, a cash prize of $2,000 was given. The award was presented May 19 during the MTA's annual education seminar in New York. A revised version of the article, "Between Price And Volume," is the feature for the July 2007 issue of Technical Analysis of STOCKS & COMMODITIES and can be found on page 20.
