 StockWiz 5 Now Available
   StockWiz 5 (SW5) is now shipping, the company announced. This version, which is almost a complete rewrite, incorporates users' suggestions. SW5 is designed to separate the noise from the substance and gives answers to a number of common stock market questions. The software can answer stock-market queries because it stores historical end-of-day stock quotes for more than 12,000 US publicly traded stocks on Windows personal computers and allows the user to define his or her queries via a smart formula language, the company added.

Mathematica 6's Reach Extends
  Mathematica 6 has opened the door to breakthroughs in technical computing. A newly updated suite of add-ons for many specific fields are available to do specialized tasks. Wolfram Research has teamed with third-party developers to build solutions for a variety of fields, the company said, adding that these packages allow people to tap into the power of Mathematica without having to develop complex task-oriented code of their own.

 eSignal Unveils Enhanced Financial Portal Site
   eSignal announced the launch of financial portal site Quote.com 2.0. Quote.com 2.0's newly created interactive stock charts feature has timeline tracking, integrated chart studies, news and export features. In addition, there is an updated portfolio manager feature and a new personal finance section. Quote.com 2.0 also offers one-click access to individual stock and market index information, the company added.

Fidelity Enables Backtest Trading Strategies
  Fidelity Investments announced plans to help all investors backtest their trading strategies online at no cost. In early 2008, both customers and noncustomers who visit Fidelity.com will be able to learn about commonly employed trading strategies and test those strategies against historical data. The results of this backtesting can help investors make more informed investment decisions on when to buy, hold, or sell stock. Fidelity also announced that customers who are eligible will be able to gain access to Wealth-Lab Pro 5.0 to learn about trading strategies and then use historical data to backtest the past performance of those strategies, using any stock of their choice.

GFT Expands Its Service To Futures Traders

  GFT said that its product line now included global futures market trading. GFT Futures offers trading on more than 100 global futures products from electronic and open outcry markets in 11 exchanges, the company added. Traders are able to trade all global futures markets offered by GFT electronically from its DealBook 360 desktop trading software platform.

Trading Technologies Launches Access To Climate Futures Exchange

  Trading Technologies (TT) and Chicago Climate Futures Exchange (CCFE) announced that TT had connected its X_Trader 7 order-entry platform to CCFE. CCFE offers standardized and cleared futures and options contracts on emission allowances and other environmental products. TT also connects to the European Climate Exchange (ECX).

FXCM Integrates Into Trading Platform, Splits From Refco
  FXCM has revamped the Marketscope charting package integrated into Fxcm's trading platform, FX Trading Station, the company said. Doing so will eliminate the need to toggle between the charts and the rest of the trading station when placing orders or trades. In addition, the user can also try FXCM's new charting features and open a free $50,000 demo account.

In other news, FXCM announced that the Refco estate had agreed to sell its 35% ownership interest in FXCM to Long Ridge Equity Partners and Lehman Brothers. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. FXCM will no longer have any financial connection or business relationship with the Refco estate.

Barchart Provides Website Services, Launches NewsFeeds
  Barchart.com said it had launched a division that will provide a full suite of agricultural information and technology services, market data and information, and real-time quotes for agricultural industry firms and websites operated by local cash markets, co-ops and other agricultural businesses.

In addition, Barchart.com announced the launch of CRB News and Inside Futures.com News, two new services that feature real-time market news, commentary and analysis. The name CRB News comes from Commodity Research Bureau, which is owned by Barchart. InsideFutures.com is a Barchart-owned futures market commentary and analysis-focused web-portal. CRB News will feature a real-time newswire service containing commodity market news, while the InsideFutures.com News feed is a consolidated feed of market commentary and analysis from industry leading analysts covering futures markets.
