How many websites can you visit in one day? As many as you have time for, I suppose, but the human brain is limited in the amount of information it can absorb at any given time. This may be why, at least for me, finding a website that has enough information I need for any given trade is one that I treat like gold. Of course, the information you find useful may differ from the information I find useful, but one website I like to visit on a pretty regular basis is stockpickr.com. The first impression is that it has a lot of information. But in order to take advantage of all that information, you need to register and become a member of the stockpickr.com community. Why do I find this site all-encompassing? Here are some of its features.

First of all, stockpickr.com is a virtual community with more than five million unique visitors. So really, you have the opportunity to bond with all type(s) of market participant(s). Although the site is heavily weighted toward investors, you can still come across valuable information. After all, the brainchild behind the website is James Altucher, a regular columnist for the Financial Times and a value investor himself. All this together with the backing of TheStreet.com -- yes, you get some Jim Cramer thrown in there -- and you have a treasure trove of information.

Not only that, it's not the type of information you find on most sites, either. You won't find the usual commentaries, breaking news, politics, and so on, that you find in most other market-related sites. What you find is just pure stock ideas from the many different members of this community.

The most difficult part is trying to identify whose ideas you would like to follow. Are you going to follow the ideas of a superinvestor like Warren Buffett or George Soros, or are you going to follow a professional fund manager's portfolio? Mind you, the information available here is what is made public, so there could be some information that you still may not know. You can browse the top-performing "Pro Portfolios," "Spotlight Portfolios," "Top-Rated Portfolios," "Most Viewed Portfolios," or even the "Do-It-Yourself" portfolios.

There is a fair amount of technical analysis-related information on the site. For example, there is an "Active Trader" section where you will come across discussions on specific trading systems. These are systems that Altucher and his trading partner used when they were trading for a hedge fund. You can see the Wealth-Lab code and the backtesting results for these systems. If you use software other than Wealth-Lab, I am sure you will be able to recreate the code in whatever format is necessary for it to run on your platform.

Every trading day, you will also find a list of stocks that have some relevance for that specific day. For example, you will find a list of the biggest % winners/losers, analyst upgrades/downgrades, 52-week highs/lows, stocks rising on unusual volume, and many others. There are also technical analyst discussions under "Forums."

As you can probably conclude by now, there is a lot that will keep you at this site for the entire day. Not only that, there is something for every type of trader. Although the redesigned site is a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the previous version, I still do find it very crowded. Once I got past that, however, I found the information available on this site to be all I really need to keep me busy during the trading day, and beyond.
