Mathematica 7 Integrates New Functions, New Application Areas

www.wolfram.com/playerWolfram Research has released Mathematica 7, which accelerates the drive to integrate and automate functionality as core Mathematica capabilities. Image processing, parallel high-performance computing (Hpc), on-demand curated data, and other innovations totaling 500-plus new functions and 12 application areas have been added. Mathematica 7 is available for Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Macintosh OS X, Linux x86, Solaris UltraSPARC/x86, and compatible systems.
In other news, Wolfram Research has released Mathematica Player 7, a free download that allows anyone anywhere to interact with dynamic documents and applications using new Mathematica technology.

TheMarkets.com announced a new version of its research and estimates platform. The upgraded platform includes enhanced performance in interface, content, and search and alerting tools to address the needs of its more than 2,000 institutional client firms. The upgrade includes new tools and features focused on accelerating the process of conducting research. Included are: transcripts; company overviews with quotes, charts, upgrades, downgrades; and a preview of research details to identify the most important documents returned by a search. A search bar offers continuous access to all available search functions.

VantagePoint Intermarket Analysis Trading Software is now out with version 8.0.
Using neural network technology, technical analysis and intermarket analysis, VantagePoint finds hidden patterns and relationships between 25 related markets and the target market to analyze and forecast price movements for more than 600 world markets, the developer said. This latest version provides new options, customizability, and predictive technical indicators. It includes an opportunity calculator, a new scan for opportunities feature, additional predicted technical indicators, and more.
In other news, Market Technologies has released its newest trading resource deemed the Market Technologies University (Mtu) Learning Center, a free resource that educates traders through informative tutorials. The tutorials of the Learning Center help traders and investors to become more knowledgeable and, in turn, more successful.
VantagePoint combines intermarket analysis with trend forecasting to provide traders and investors with accurate market trend forecasts. The software analyzes interrelated global financial markets that make up the global economy to provide customers with daily forecasts for 600-plus world markets including stocks, futures, forex, and Etfs.

In response to user feedback, eSignal has released eSignal 10.2, which includes upgrades and added features. The Forex Window has been designed for the currency traders. Morningstar Reports provide analyst reports on more than 2,000 mutual funds, including data such as analyst picks and fund family scores. Other enhancements include intraday split-adjusted charts, a more user-friendly interface, a more useful symbol search window, and performance enhancements to improve access to streaming trades and quotes.

Cqg has announced a new network of hosted direct market access gateways designed to reduce electronic trading latency for its global customer base. The new infrastructure features exchange gateways in Chicago, London, Singapore, and Sydney. Cqg’s hosted execution network is designed to take advantage of exchange proximity, providing traders access to local markets with the lowest possible latency while maintaining access to global markets via Cqg’s fault-tolerant backbone.

Interactive Brokers said it had received Cftc approval to allow its US customers permission to trade the Kospi 200 Futures on the Korean Stock Exchange. This is one of Asia’s most liquid contracts, with an average of 24.5 million contracts traded daily in the first half of 2008. Volume in October and November reached approximately 8.5 million contracts.

It has added an Advanced Charts format utilizing Flash technology with an intuitive design that makes using the forex charts easy and informative. The new Flash technology makes the charts more responsive and easier to manipulate. The website is free to users.

Agora-X launched an electronic communications network (Ecn) that enables institutional market participants to efficiently negotiate over-the-counter (Otc) transactions in commodity and derivative contracts. The Agora-X Ecn is designed to obtain the best prices in a more liquid and transparent Otc marketplace. Agora-X launched its exempt commercial market (Ecm) to handle financially settled option look-alikes in energy, metals, and other nonagricultural commodities, and commodity swaps in those fields. The Ecm will allow negotiation, execution, and clearing of Otc trades in exempt commodities.

Option Dynamics is real-time software developed by Tom Joseph of Advanced Get note. A key function is the implied volatility range analysis, which allows the user to identify where the current implied volatility is compared to the past 20, 60, or 90 days, or any user-selected lookback period. The range tool allows the user to select ideal option strategies based on the range of the implied volatility. A built-in scanner can be used to scan for stock trading with the desired volatility profile. Scans are real-time and updated during market hours.
