INTERVIEW WITH GREG MORRIS

Editor,
Thanks for the interview with Greg Morris (“The Danger Zone With Gregory Morris,” interview, September 2009 S&C). It especially hit home for me since I too was reading Zahorchak in 1974, using multicolored pens to keep track of weekly prices on a big analysis pad I kept for about 50 high-beta stocks. I too got the data from my weekly Barron’s and kept track of the Nyse A/D line. I was taking a course in stock market analysis. Fifty of us in the class had a trading contest. I came in second using Zahorchak’s methods. Since académe’s focus at the time was random walk theory, to ensure my A-, I had to “admit” I was just lucky.

MORE ACCOLADES FOR MORRIS INTERVIEW, FOREX TRADING

Editor,
I commend you on your recent interview with Gregory Morris, an acclaimed expert on candlesticks. I particularly appreciate his candid insight on exponential moving averages and his emphasis on the discipline of following one’s own method strictly, unemotionally.
I would like to see more articles on forex trading. It would be financially salutary for your magazine. Since 2005, the interest in forex trading has been increasing, as can be seen by the increase in forex brokerages. Maybe you can even change the name of your magazine to Technical Analysis of Stocks, Forex, & Commodities! I am sure the trading community would appreciate this move.
I wish your magazine great success.

INDICATOR VALUE IN NUMERICAL FORM?

Editor,
I have been trying vigorously to find software where I can see an indicator’s value in numerical form only. I have heard this is possible with Microsoft Excel but I am not keen on it since it requires a lot of manual input. Is there any alternative available?
—Yagnesh Patel

You can get data from sources such as Yahoo Finance that lists the data in numerical format. All you would have to do is transfer the data into an Excel spreadsheet.

GIFT SUBSCRIPTIONS

Editor,
Your website allows me to set up a new subscription, but there’s no option to set up a gift subscription. How can I best do this?
—Mark

When you fill out your order online, you can simply indicate “gift subscription” in the comment box, as well as putting the gift recipient’s address in the “send to” field while putting your own address in the “bill to” field. Alternatively, you can call our subscription department at 800-Technical (800 832-4642) to set up a gift subscription, and we’ll take care of it!
