Websites For Traders
The blog of parent site The Hightower Report (futures-research.com), an independent research firm, thehightowerreport.com is a comprehensive news site devoted to the commodity markets. Its editorial content is timely and well written, making it a great resource for anyone interested in the commodity markets.
There is a diverse collection of featured stories, commentaries of different markets such as metals, energy, wheat, corn, soybeans, equities, bonds, and currencies. The content is a combination of technical and fundamental analysis, specific to the commodity markets. You won’t find too much on chart patterns or technical indicators. Some of the content is just an excerpt or sample. In order to read the full story, you will have to sign up for a subscription service at futures-research.com. Nonetheless, there is enough on this blog to give you an idea of what is happening in the commodities market.

In addition to written content, you’ll also find audio and video segments covering the different markets. The audio segments are only samples, whereas full videos can be viewed.
There is also a research section where you can access commentaries, headlines, opening calls, and periodic reports. I found the periodic reports to be very thorough. For example, on September 11, 2009, there was a post discussing the Usda supply/demand review of the grains market covering soybeans, corn, and wheat. You can also be up to date on export sales of various commodities. Reading these various reports regularly will keep you abreast of the fundamentals in the commodities, which is an essential component for commodity traders. Even if you don’t trade commodities, it’s still a good idea to know what is happening in some of these markets, especially those that are correlated or inversely correlated with the markets you trade.
If you are interested in subscribing to the services offered by The Hightower Report, you can sign up for a two-week free trial. After that, it will cost you $80 per month to access all the features they offer.
There are few resources out there that cover the commodity markets in detail and without bias. Thehightowerreport.com is one that I would recommend you read on a regular basis if you want to stay tuned to what is going on, especially in the metals, energies, and grains.
