Editor,
In your Traders’ Tips section, you feature many providers, including eSignal, NinjaTrader, MetaStock, and so on, and sometimes Microsoft Excel as well. But you never mention ProRealTime, a provider of free end-of-day data that doesn’t need software installation (since the platform runs on Java). It gives users the ability to see their own charts on almost any computer connected to Internet.

Code in our Traders’ Tips section is supplied by industry software developers and vendors of the software featured. We could try contacting ProRealTime.com to see whether they would be interested in contributing to the Traders’ Tips section of this magazine. Thank you for your input.—Editor

Editor,
I’ve downloaded several issues of S&C to my iPad2. How do I access them? I can’t find them using iBooks.
Gary
On your iPad, you can use the Safari browser to view downloaded issues or you can choose to open the downloaded Pdf into the iBooks application. (Note the browser asks you in the upper right-hand corner which action you wish to take when you go to download the Pdf.)
You can use the directions at the following link on the Apple website to load a Pdf into iTunes and iBooks: https://support.apple.com/kb/ht4227.
Editor,
Teresa Fernandez’s article “Falling Off A Cliff” (September 2011 S&C) was very timely. Her rationale confirms my suspicions.
I have a question about Figures 1 and 2 on page 39. The black MA(20,C) looks like it was labeled correctly. However, the red MA(20,C) looks like it should have been labeled as “MA(50,C).” Is this true?
John J. Dueweke
Teresa Fernandez replies:
You are correct. The Aig and Citigroup charts that should have appeared in the article are shown in Figures 1 and 2 below.
Figure 1: daily chart of aig. The daily volume between October 9 and November 21, 2007, was heavier than during previous months. The average daily volume during that period was 1,062,828, compared to the previous 12 months’ average daily volume of 509,327. Average volume during the last week of the pattern was even higher.
Figure 2: daily chart of citigroup (c). Citigroup’s daily volume between October 11 and November 9, 2007, was heavier than during previous months. The average daily volume was 64,854,100, compared to the previous 12 months’ average daily volume of 24,940,050. During the last week of the pattern, the average daily volume was even higher.
