QUERY-BASED TOOL PROTECTS AGAINST VOLATILITY

Book Cover ImageTo help investors protect the gains in their equity portfolio against market volatility, TradingBlock now offers Portfolio Hedger, a query-based tool that lets investors create and rank protection strategies for nearly any stock or exchange traded fund (ETF) in their portfolios. Investors can select stocks or ETFs in their portfolio or watchlist and specify the protection they want based on two criteria: downside risk and when they want the protection. The tool then returns five or more “collar” protection strategies ranked by the overall cost of the protection or the amount of upside potential the investor can retain as long as the protection is maintained. Investors can also graph the projected profit/loss of the protected position to see how the combined position may perform as market conditions change.
