NASDAQ OMX TO POWER EAST AFRICA EXCHANGE
The NASDAQ OMX Group said it had been selected as the technology partner for the new East Africa Exchange. NASDAQ OMX will deliver its X-stream technology to power trading and clearing. Under the terms of an agreement signed with the government of Rwanda, the East Africa Exchange aims to increase regional market efficiency and liquidity as well as giving the region’s population of 130 million better access to markets. The exchange will initially focus on establishing an auction facility and spot trading for agriculture and nonagriculture commodities, but also develop futures trading across the East Africa region.

HIGH-EFFICIENCY DEFENSIVE INDEXES INTRODUCED
Russell High-Efficiency Defensive Indexes combine economic and market risk factors, creating a stability score to help investors identify high-quality, low-volatility stocks. The index ranks constituents based on an assigned stability score and weights them according to market capitalization, creating a universe of higher-quality, lower-volatility stocks weighted in proportion to size. The new series consists of 22 separate indexes based on the Russell US and Global indexes.

BOLLINGER BANDS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM TO ANALYZE STOCKS
EquityTrader Pro now features Bollinger Band Expert, an artificial intelligence system that analyzes a stock and prepares a user report. The expert system is centered on Bollinger Bands and their indicators, which provide a measure of whether prices are relatively high or low. Many features are available to all users.

Guggenheim Investments announced that 40 exchange traded products (ETPs) will be available to advisors and investors through the Schwab ETF OneSource program.
