Software counts Elliott waves and forecasts

NEW -- Elliott Wave International has released software that discerns wave patterns in financial markets and forecasts prices. The program, called WinWaves, uses an engine to find structures in market price movements and count waves. The software ranks patterns according to wave count in order of probability. Then the program lists a price range within which the patterns may peak or bottom.

The software labels the charts it produces with Elliott wave counts following a strict guideline for identifying Elliott waves and also reports when a wave isn't present. It includes explanations of patterns, confidence ratings and back-testing. It forecasts long-, intermediate- and short-term price movement. A free program demo is available by mail or via the Internet.

Forecasting tool combines neural net and genetic algorithm technology

UPDATE -- NeuroForecaster/GENETICA 6.1, a forecasting and analytical tool from NIBS (NewWave Intelligent Business Systems), combines the automatic learning capability of neural networks with the search and optimization capabilities of genetic algorithms in an integrated interface.

It offers a graphical interface and acts as a standalone program with a built-in spreadsheet for data manipulation. It reads popular data formats including MetaStock, CSI, CompuTrac, Future-Source, Excel and ASCII files. The software performs tasks ranging from time-series forecasting to classification problems and is useful for predictive analysis, charting and presentations.

With NeuroForecaster, neural nets can be built with any number of input and user-specified complexity. Besides the 12 built-in neural network models, the GENETICA Net Builder creates and evolves a hybrid population of networks with an optimal or near-optimal number of hidden nodes, learning rate, tolerance and forecast horizon based on Darwinian evolution theory. The built-in models include include back propagation, radial basis function, and the proprietary FastProp and NeuroFuzzy.

NeuroForeccaster was designed to mimic human thinking, learn and forecast the movement patterns of stock, commodity, currency and property markets. It can help analyze data such as credit ratings, GDP and sales, and help problem-solve in areas such as fraud detection, fault diagnosis and other business and engineering applications.

A selection of neural products is described at NIBS's Web site.
