Prophet launches Web-Based Viewer for Level II, real-time custom scanning

Prophet Financial Systems launched its new web-based service for viewing streaming Level II data. Level II Viewer, which is available with the real-time services at the subscription-based online technical analysis suite, provides color-coded price tiers and dynamic price bars to show the best bid and offer for each market maker's public trade orders. It offers a technical analysis system for portfolio development and management.

Prophet also launched ProphetScan, a web-based real-time stock scanner. With just a browser, active traders and online investors can scan more than 14,000 US and Canadian stocks based on custom technical, fundamental, and real-time price action criteria. Divided into three main sections, the website offers an easy-to-use system for identifying new trading opportunities, charting and analysis, and ongoing portfolio management.

TradeStation sets lower commissions, is approved as futures commission merchant, joins PHLX

TradeStation Group announced lower commission rates for stocks, exchange-traded funds, futures, and single-stock futures. The new pricing became effective October 31, 2003, ranging from base commissions for stocks and Etfs, for example, down to one cent/share for the first 500 shares of a trade, down from 1.2 cents. The company will continue to charge its monthly $99.95 base platform fee to account holders, unless waived by meeting certain requirements.

In other news, TradeStation Securities, the principal operating subsidiary of TradeStation Group, has been approved by the NFA to be a futures commission merchant (FCM), effective October 2, 2003. TradeStation will continue to clear its futures trades through R.J. O'Brien & Associates. In addition, TradeStation Securities has acquired a seat and full membership in the Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX). Its membership will allow TradeStation to directly trade both options and equities on the exchange. PHLX is one of five major options exchanges in the US.

RTR Software calls it quits

RTR Software will close its operations effective December 31, 2003. Effective September 15, sales, support and future enhancements of the TechniFilter Plus software program have been handled by Australian-based BrightSpark, Inc., which now owns exclusive rights to TechniFilter Plus. PFG BEST Direct utilizes iTOPS, speeding fills

Peregrine Financial Group (PFG) announced its Best Direct trading system is one of the first to send trades directly to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) eurocurrency trading pits through the iTOPS system, an order routing software that uses a common interface for routing orders for Globex and CME floor-traded products, should result in more efficient order handling for CME pit-traded contracts.

XpressTrade sets alert-triggered orders, online basket trading

Xpresstrade is offering an online price alerts capability. Traders can now attach contingent orders to their price alerts. When target prices are reached, these orders will be automatically activated and routed to the appropriate exchange for execution.

Xpresstrade has also introduced an online futures basket trading capability that allows traders to enter multiple orders in different futures markets. Traders may use prebuilt baskets or create their own customized baskets. Each basket contains a list of futures contracts, and traders may then place a single order to buy or sell the entire basket. Traders may add or remove futures contracts from existing baskets, reorganize the individual futures contracts within any given basket, or create new baskets from scratch.

GAIN Capital, London Capital partner

Gain Capital announced a liquidity and technology partnership with London Capital Group (LCG). The partnership marks LCG's entry into the forex markets. LCG now offers 24-hour forex trading services through LC Forex. In addition to a white label version of Gain's proprietary online forex trading platform, LC Forex also utilizes Gain's liquidity, execution, and back-office services. Gain currently provides 24-hour liquidity in 14 currency pairs, and is now adding support for four new Scandinavian currency pairs.

EuroNext secures cash-market service

Euronext launched cash-market service Cash Premium on December 1, 2003, further creating a level playing field for the investor community. With Cash Premium, which will operate in real time, investors will be able to view the complete order book for all products listed on Euronext's cash market on their data-vendor screens. The new service will provide full data on market depth including all buy orders (sorted from highest to lowest) and all sell orders (sorted from low to high).

Bollinger's Group Power assigns stocks to industry groups

Group Power assigns specific stocks to industry groups based on their business or industry, developer John Bollinger said. To determine the group structure, each company's business, and its stock's trading pattern, were considered. This process, called rational analysis, results in a Group Power industry group breakdown that is especially sensitive to industry trends.
